Long Plain First Nation is located 25 kilometres southwest of Portage La Prairie. Long Plain also has land adjacent to Trans Canada Highway # 1- just outside of Portage La Prairie. On this property houses Long Plain Arrowhead Development Corporation, Offices of DOTC and other organizations. As of March 31, 2013, the total registered population of Long Plain First Nation was 4070 persons, of which 2152 resided on the reserve and 1918 persons lived elsewhere. The community language is Ojibway.
